The Late Sneak Peek #3

Here is number three! This sneak peek shows a hint of the feelings the main character faces and doesn’t quite know how to deal with them. Sorry I didn’t get this out when I said I would, but the last few weekends have been busy and the weekdays a blur. Since school let out I can’t keep track of the days.

Today I just learned that Ray Bradbury died at the age of 91. He was born in 1920 and helped to create the books we love today, from the sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, and horror. Can you imagine the things he had seen and been through that helped to fuel his imagination? It is a big loss, but he left us with the beautiful gift of his writing.

“Elsie stepped forward, hand outstretched, to brush the loose hairs from Tor’s face.  I placed a hand on her arm to stop her, and then took a cautious step forward.  Elsie, looking pleased with this, didn’t try to stop me.  Willing gentleness into my rough awkward fingers, I brushed the few strands of hair back from Tor’s face and tucked them behind her ear, committing every curve of her face to memory.

Tor moved then, catching me by surprise. I jumped away, attempting to hide behind the others before she opened her eyes. Too late; she caught me.”
