Here is the second sneak peek. It is hard choosing one that doesn’t give away too much of the story, but is interesting enough. I hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

“What are you doing?” I screamed at him. “We have to help her!”

“She needs the right help, Johnny,” he said.  “We don’t want to make it worse.” He paused, looking at Tor.  “They will be here soon.”

Remembering the strange properties of Elsie’s dagger, I stopped struggling. Feeling this, Mr. Lance loosened his grip and allowed me to step closer to Tor.

She lay face down on the floor.  The charred clothing on her back melted into what little flesh was still there, blackened, peeling and bubbled around deeper wounds made by what looked like pieces of bone from Kioti’s powder.  Blood seeped from her wounds and ran in rivulets to the floor. I turned away in nauseated horror.

Nathan and Elsie rushed through the door, and close behind them was a small group of people all dressed in white.  We scrambled to get out of their way as they rushed to Tor. We all stood back and watched as they scurried around her, assessing her wounds and checking her vital signs. Another team brought a gurney and positioned it next to Tor.  Spaced around her, they all counted down to lift her:  3…2…1…  Tor remained motionless as they lifted her, but when her body made contact with the gurney, she erupted in convulsions, emitting strangled choking noises as her body seized.

“Do something!” I yelled and rushed toward Tor.
